The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the National Police were able to prevent a terrorist act that was to take place in the center of Zhytomyr on February 28. The executor of this crime was a 16-year-old schoolboy from Zhytomyr region, who was recruited by Russian special services.
According to the SBU, the organizer of the terrorist attack was the Russian special service, which recruited a young boy, promising him a monetary reward for performing a criminal task. The schoolboy received detailed instructions from Russian curators for the manufacture of a homemade explosive device (SVP). To enhance the affected effect of the device, he had an explosive with metal screws and masked it in a pan that was hidden in a backpack.
On February 24, instead of going to school, the guy went to Zhytomyr on a taxi, constantly in touch with Russian curators. After he arrived in place, he had to inform his curators, and then a remote activation of explosives was planned through a call to a mobile phone connected to the device.
However, the SBU counterintelligence revealed the plans of the Russian invaders in advance and detained a minor performer at the approach to the place where the terrorist attack was to take place. SBU investigators are currently preparing a suspicion for a 16-year-old guy for preparing for a terrorist attack. According to Ukrainian law, he is threatened with up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
