200 thousand hryvnias for a contract: the government encourages young doctors to go to villages and to the front

The Government of Ukraine has decided to introduce a one -time targeted cash assistance in the amount of 200 thousand hryvnias for graduates of internships, which since 2025 completed training in medical specialties and agreed to work in state or communal medical institutions in particularly important areas - in rural areas or in the territories where hostilities are conducted.

This was reported by the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk.

The assistance will be paid provided that the doctor has concluded a contract for at least three years of work in the relevant medical institution. In addition, the position he occupies must meet two criteria:

  • belong to state or municipal medical institutions, where the staffing staff at the time of employment was 75% or less;

  • be vacant and officially placed on a single web portal of health care vacancies at the date of submission of documents.

In this way, the government seeks to solve a chronic shortage of medical personnel in the countryside and in the frontlines, where personnel hunger is most severe.

At the same time, new changes are abolished by the previous norm, which provided for one -time aid in five times the subsistence level for young doctors who worked in rural areas in the positions of family doctors, district pediatricians and therapists. Instead, the new model ties supporting a specific geography and a personnel situation in medical institutions.
