In the conditions of war and mobilization, Ukraine faces serious challenges in the transport and logistics sphere. Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure Serhii Derkach said that the shortage of drivers in this field reaches 25% of the total needs, and in the field of passenger transportation in cities, this figure reaches 30%.
According to him, "the 25% shortage of truck drivers is a preliminary figure that we collected from carriers and logistics companies. In some companies, this figure reaches even more than 50%, because it is a matter of mobilization. In figures, this is about 30 thousand hryvnias. drivers who are needed as truck drivers," said Derkach at the presentation of the pilot project for training women truck drivers.
In the field of public passenger transport, according to him, there is a shortage of about 30% of drivers - about 6,000 of the 14,000 specialists needed in the field.
As Derkach said, companies that have transport divisions in their structure independently train women who want to work as truck drivers. Also, the Ministry and the Institutional Development Fund, with the support of USAID, are implementing a project to train female long-distance runners. 100 participants have already been selected for participation from over a thousand of those who submitted questionnaires. The project is supported by 25 large Ukrainian employers who are ready to hire women - among them "Ukrposhta", "Nova poshta", Metro Cash&Carry, Novus, Fozzy and others.
