Secretary of the Dnipro City Council Oleksandr Sanzhara actively traveled abroad during the Great War, officially on business trips, and in fact using his own Piper 28-161 Warrior aircraft. Journalists found out that in a year and a half the official spent 61 days outside Ukraine, and each business trip was accompanied by flights of his aircraft, which took off from different European countries.
Of particular note is Sanzhar's visit to Warsaw in May 2025. He was supposed to represent Dnipro at a meeting with an engineering company, but his plane took off from Slovenia, where the official's daughter is studying. He arrived in Poland only a week after the start of his official trip.
A similar situation occurred during the New Year's business trip - from December 28, 2024 to January 10, 2025. Formally - negotiations on the construction of the metro, in fact - a flight from Krosno, Poland, to Slovenia and a further flight in an unspecified direction. In August 2024, Sanzhara's plane was again spotted in the sky between Slovenia, Croatia, and Poland, while the official himself was allegedly conducting international negotiations.
Sanzhara himself justifies himself by saying that he flies in his free time: he says that he supports flying practice. He admits that he is the main user of the plane, and in the future he plans to buy out all ownership of it. At the same time, this air machine costs, according to experts, at least $110–120 thousand, and its maintenance costs more than $10 thousand every year.
The real financial capabilities of the family also raise questions. In 2019, Sanzhara's declared income was only 470 thousand hryvnias. His wife confirmed that the plane, including repairs, cost more than $100 thousand. It turned out that 70% of the plane belongs to ATN Enterprises, a company registered in San Marino, headed by the official's sister, Iryna Sanzhara.
Journalists ask: were the foreign visits justified on official grounds, or are they just a cover for private air travel? And why does an official during the war afford luxurious routes through Slovenia and Croatia, while the military and volunteers fight for every liter of fuel?
