According to Forbes, the 72nd Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has begun retreating from Vugledar against the background of the escalation of hostilities and the critical situation in the region. Analysts note that the defense of the city is approaching its final stages, and the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces to Epiphany is possible.
Previously, People's Deputy Maryana Bezugla predicted the future loss of Vugledar. In particular, the People's Deputy pointed out that chaos was created in the unit due to the removal of the brigade commander of the 72nd Syrskyi.
It is noteworthy that the military publications write that the decision of the Central Committee really provoked dissatisfaction among the soldiers. Ivan Vinnyk's dismissal "reduced the combat effectiveness of the unit."
Military observer Denys Popovych writes that the Russians are advancing from the west and at the same time from the northeast:
"And the two sides of these vices are closing now. That is, it is not a semi-encirclement, there is a threat of a physical environment, not an operational one. I don't think that fighting will develop in the city."
The enemy, says Popovych, has gained a foothold on the outskirts. In his opinion, it is unpleasant, but it is not the determining factor.
"It is precisely this movement from the east and the west that is the most dangerous and the most determining factor, which, obviously, will cause the departure of our units from Ugledar in order to prevent this encirclement from happening. <…> I don't know whether the hours determine the period of Ugledar's stay under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but the days - this estimate is correct. Although maybe hours. In other words, the situation there is rapidly deteriorating."
