A house for 19 million and a car for 1.9 million: NACP exposed the illegal enrichment of a customs officer from the "Tisa" checkpoint

The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption has sent a reasoned conclusion to the Prosecutor General's Office regarding signs of illicit enrichment of the state inspector of the "Tysa" customs post of the Transcarpathian Customs. This is reported by "Law and Business" with reference to the NACP.

Monitoring of the official's lifestyle, conducted by the NACP, taking into account materials from the State Bureau of Investigation, revealed property, the value of which significantly exceeds the official income of the customs officer and his relatives. The total amount of the discrepancy is estimated at more than UAH 23 million.

The central element of the scheme is a land plot with an area of 1.6 thousand sq. m in Uzhhorod, which was purchased by the official's mother in 2022 for 40.1 thousand UAH. The examination showed that its market value at the time of purchase was about 1.8 million UAH.

In 2023, a 330 sq. m residential building was put into operation on the site, which the customs officer himself and his family moved into. Its cost exceeds UAH 19 million.

The official's parents claim that they built it "with their own efforts" and savings, and partly with borrowed funds from friends. However, the NACP points out that none of the loans are documented and have signs of being fictitious.

At the end of 2024, the customs officer's wife purchased a 2024 SKODA KODIAQ for over UAH 1.9 million, explaining the purchase by selling previous cars. The analysis conducted by the NACP established that the family's official income was not enough to cover the cost of an elite house, land plot, and car.

After the start of the inspection by the State Bureau of Investigation and the National Anti-Corruption Commission, information appeared in the media that the customs officer had filed a fictitious disability at the beginning of the full-scale war in an attempt to avoid mobilization. The disability was later canceled, but the official sued the Ministry of Health, demanding the restoration of pension payments.

In addition, it was established that the inspector used government "cover" license plates, which are issued only to security sector employees, law enforcement officers, or top government officials under state protection.
