A case of official negligence at the Kyivteleservice municipal enterprise has been referred to court. Investigators of the Pechersk police department have completed a pre-trial investigation into the head of one of the municipal enterprise's departments, who is accused of significant violations during procurement in 2023.
According to the investigation, the official did not conduct proper market and price monitoring before purchasing equipment for wireless Internet access. As a result, the utility purchased communication equipment at a significantly inflated cost. The total contract amount was 144 million hryvnias, and the overpayment to the supplier, according to law enforcement estimates, exceeded 20 million hryvnias - funds that were allocated from the budget of the Kyiv community.
The police emphasize that such actions led to the irrational use of public funds and caused losses to the community. The indictment has already been submitted to the court. The official is accused of official negligence, which led to serious consequences.
He faces up to five years in prison with a possible additional penalty of a ban on holding certain positions or engaging in relevant activities for up to three years. The court must determine whether the official is guilty of improper performance of official duties.
Public outcry around the case is growing, as significant budget funds are at stake that could have been used for community needs, including infrastructure or social programs. The public expects a transparent review of the case and a fair decision.
