The High Council of Justice on October 2 decided to dismiss the head of the Pivdennoukrainsk court, Oleksandr Savin. The decision was made upon the submission of the Third Disciplinary Chamber of the High Council of Justice, which established the presence of a significant disciplinary offense and systematic neglect of duties, the reports say.
According to media reports, the cases against Savin lasted for several years and were accompanied by a resonance: the judge was held accountable for driving under the influence of alcohol, administrative fines were imposed and his driving license was revoked. In particular, on March 14, 2025, he was fined 17 thousand hryvnias and deprived of his driver's license for a year for driving while intoxicated. In 2024, according to sources, Savin also received a fine of 1,700 UAH for failure to submit changes in his property status in the declaration.
The Third Disciplinary Chamber and the Supreme Judicial Council assessed not only individual incidents, but also systematic neglect of judicial duties, which became the basis for the final dismissal. The judge repeatedly appealed the disciplinary decisions in accordance with the established procedure, but his complaints were rejected.
The decision of the Supreme Court of Justice enters into force in accordance with the procedure provided for by law; further comments from the department or from Oleksandr Savin himself are expected as necessary.
