The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine has fined three drinking water producers for disseminating false information on labels and in advertising materials. The decision was made at a meeting on October 30 after considering a complaint from Morshyn Mineral Water Plant “Oscar” PJSC.
The companies under inspection were Lirans LLC, Morshynski Dzherela Trading House LLC, and Shayanski Dzherela LLC. According to the AMCU, these manufacturers indicated on their labels inaccurate information about the origin of the water, its beneficial properties, and its suitability for baby food.
In particular, “Lirans” and “Trading House “Morshynski Dzherela”” were unable to provide any evidence of the alleged special properties of their water, which were stated on the packaging. And the company “Shayanski Dzherela”, which produces the brand “Shayanska Kremnieva”, went even further: the labels stated that the water “takes care of the brain” and “saturates blood vessels with silicon, making them more elastic”. However, the company did not provide any scientific evidence of such effects.
The Antimonopoly Committee found these statements to be a violation of the legislation on protection against unfair competition, as they misled consumers about the properties of the product. Following the review, the Antimonopoly Committee fined the companies, but the exact amount of the fine was not disclosed.
It is known that LLC "Lirans" was registered in Lviv in 2021, the founder is Serhiy Panchenko from Kyiv. The company "Trading House "Morshynski Dzherela"" was created in 2023 by a resident of Lviv region Iryna Stsira. And LLC "Shayanski Dzherela" has been operating in Transcarpathia since 1998 and is owned by Iryna Pavlyuk and Oleksandr Salomas.
The AMCU recalls that any claims about the medicinal or health-improving properties of products must be confirmed by scientific research and certified by relevant authorities.
