In October-November, Ukrainians will experience another increase in food prices. Bread will rise the most in price — by 20–25%, said Denys Marchuk, deputy chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council.
Bread
Ukraine harvested about 22 million tons of wheat this year, so there is no shortage of grain. But the price of bread depends not only on the harvest:
-
energy prices have risen since August;
-
fuel and logistics costs have increased;
-
bread factories purchase some components for foreign currency;
-
Salaries in the industry were raised to at least 20 thousand UAH.
For nine months in a row, bread prices have been rising by 1.5–2% each month, and by the end of the year, the total price increase will be up to a quarter of the price.
Dairy products
The “big milk season” is coming to an end. Production is declining, but demand remains. In addition, significant volumes are exported to the EU. In the fall, dairy products will increase in price by 7–8%.
Eggs
Egg production has increased, but the industry depends on the cost of electricity. If tariffs remain stable, the market will survive. The forecast price increase is within 5–10%.
Meat
Prices remain high, but no new jumps are expected yet. Chicken and pork are holding steady. At the same time, problems are possible in the event of blackouts, when the cost of backup power sources increases.
Vegetables
In the "borscht set" market, prices are currently 30–40% lower than last year, thanks to a good harvest. But the situation is temporary — in the winter, the cost of vegetables will increase due to storage costs.
