The new norm, which stipulates the obligation of banks to disclose banking secrets and personal data of clients upon request of law enforcement agencies, was added to draft law No. 11043 before the second reading in the Verkhovna Rada.
This proposal has already caused a significant resonance in society and among experts in the field of law and finance. A vote on this draft law is expected in the near future, reports "Sudovo-yuridychna Gazeta".
A request from the police may come if the payment transaction contains signs of a criminal offense.
The draft law was criticized by the Main Legal Department of the Parliament. There they believe that he violates the Constitution.
"It is not clear how a payment service provider will determine whether a transaction contains signs of a criminal offense," the department says.
And they added that the grounds for sending such a request to the police are not limited, although it is about an extremely wide amount of information.
