More than half of Ukrainians consult a doctor only in case of emergency, and only 20% of citizens regularly renew their vaccinations. These are the results of a survey conducted by Rakuten Viber, in which about 40 thousand users participated.
When asked about undergoing preventive examinations, 56% answered that they visit a doctor only when health problems arise. Only 19% undergo regular annual examinations, another 12% try to do so, but are not always able to. 11% noted that they undergo examinations irregularly, and 2% generally stated that they trust only traditional medicine.
The situation with vaccination is even less optimistic. Only 11% of respondents regularly renew all vaccinations, another 7% - selectively. The largest share of respondents (38%) mentioned vaccination only in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, 26% reported that they were vaccinated only in childhood, and 16% do not vaccinate at all.
The survey also revealed the age structure of respondents: more than half of those surveyed are Ukrainians under 45, and the main active group is aged 34–45.
Experts emphasize that neglecting routine checkups and vaccinations increases the risk of serious, preventable diseases. In times of war and an unstable healthcare system, this problem becomes even more acute.
