The United States confirms that the military aid provided to Ukraine is not used illegally, the coordinator of the National Security Council of the White House, John Kirby, said. He stated that the American side did not reveal any signs of abuse with the weapons transferred to Ukraine, and emphasized that the aid is being used as intended.
"We did not see any signs that this (accountability in Ukraine - ed.) does not exist, or that there was large-scale corruption or abuse on the part of the Ukrainian army," Kirby said. He also noted the positive results of direct interaction with the Ukrainian side regarding accountability in this matter.
Earlier it was reported that the USA is having difficulties in financing new military aid for Ukraine. Negotiations on the allocation of funds for Ukraine are ongoing in the Upper House of the Senate, and a vote on the corresponding bill is planned for next year due to the postponed holiday vacation for senators.
Some politicians, including Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson, did not support the idea of continuing the work of the US Congress to provide additional financial funds for Ukraine before Christmas. However, the White House believes that this work must be done, and urges Republicans not to go home for the holidays.
The US State Department also denied media reports about any change in the strategy of supporting Ukraine in its resistance to Russian aggression.
