Business in Ukraine becomes more active in combating corruption manifestations

According to the research "Corruption in Ukraine 2024: Understanding, Perception, Prevalence", last year business demonstrated the highest activity in exposing corruption. The results of this study indicate a growing awareness of the problem of corruption among entrepreneurs, as well as their participation in the fight against this problem.

Basic conclusions:

  • Corruption is a serious problem: 76% of business representatives in 2024 consider corruption one of the biggest problems in Ukraine, which is 3% more than the previous year.
  • Increase in corruption: 57% of respondents noted that in the last year the level of corruption in the country has increased compared to 46.3% in 2023.
  • Increase in corruption perception: 83.1% of entrepreneurs consider corruption widespread, which is a slight increase compared to 81.3% in 2022.

Despite the overall assessment of high levels of corruption in Ukraine, entrepreneurs evaluate the prevalence of corruption in their areas of activity much lower. A third of the surveyed businessmen believe that there are no corruption in their field.

Entrepreneurs are most found in the following areas:

  1. Customs.
  2. Suppliers of connection and maintenance of electric, gas, water supply.
  3. Law enforcement agencies, construction, land relations.

While the tax authorities, control over economic activity and enforcement of court decisions have the lowest level of corruption experience among respondents.

Significant progress has been recorded in the activity of entrepreneurs to expose corruption. Every sixth business representative, which is the highest in recent years, reported corruption in 2024.
