US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, after his recent trip to Kyiv, expressed support for the idea of lifting the ban on the use of American weapons for strikes on Russian territory. This was reported by the New York Times with reference to anonymous sources in the US government.
"Under the leadership of the State Department, vigorous debates are currently underway in the administration regarding the loosening of the ban that allows Ukrainians to strike missile and artillery launch sites directly across the border with Russia," the article reads.
But this proposal "is still in the formative stage, and it is not clear how many of his colleagues from the closest circle of Biden supported it."
According to officials, the project has not yet been officially presented to the US president.
"Blinken's position has changed because the Russians have opened a new front in the war, which has led to devastating results," the publication writes, citing participants in the discussions.
