About 2,000 culture and mass media workers were booked against mobilization at the request of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy. Acting Minister Rostislav Karandeev said this during a round table with journalists in Mykolaiv.
He noted that the topic of reservations is very important, especially for families whose members are at the front. The slogan "everything for the front - everything for victory" is very relevant, but it is also important to understand why the war is being waged. Ensuring stability and sustainability of civil processes is important in the context of war, and part of cultural and media professionals should work for this.
Karandeev emphasized that the government's duty is to ensure at least the minimum functioning capacity of every cultural institution that did not stop its activity even during the war. Thus, representatives of the media and cultural sphere received reservations, but only up to 50% of their number.
"1,150 cultural workers and slightly more than 700 mass media received bookings from mobilization at the request of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy. I am ready to protect every person, as this is done in accordance with the current norms in Ukraine," Karandeev emphasized during a meeting with journalists in Mykolaiv.
He also admitted that today it is not easy for the representatives of the authorities, sometimes there is a desire to help, but it is not known how to do it properly. "That's why I'm asking you to help and give advice on how to properly form ideas and their logistics. We are currently working together with public representatives, as communication with the public is very important," the interim minister added.
He also emphasized that the term "local self-government" implies that people become active participants in the power processes, and not just consumers of its decisions. "This means that we not only have the right to express our opinion, but also to participate in the development and implementation of projects that affect the quality of our lives," he emphasized.
Earlier, Interim Minister of Culture and Information Policy Rostislav Karandeev stated that the criticism regarding the reservation of workers in the cultural and media spheres is unfair to those who perform their work honestly and qualitatively.
