Ukrainian TV presenter Volodymyr Ostapchuk, who married for the third time in 2024 — this time to blogger Kateryna Poltavska — announced that the couple plans to get married.
This became known after the showman's 25-year-old wife showed a Tiffany diamond engagement ring on social media. According to Ostapchuk, he did not make a proposal in the usual format: during one of the evenings he simply suggested that Kateryna sign her name. Later, the couple had a son, Timofey. But Poltavskaya did not lose faith that one day her lover would get down on one knee, and in the end he exceeded her expectations.
The planned wedding has raised questions about how the church treats such cases. If previous marriages were civil, without a church ceremony, then for the church the wedding with Poltava will be the first - it will be held with all the festivities. Before that, the couple must have a conversation with a priest, confirm the fact of baptism and submit documents.
If Ostapchuk has already been married to his first wife, a second wedding is possible, but it will be held in a shortened form with a penitential character. A third wedding, if it were necessary, would require a special blessing from the bishop, would be held without ceremonies, and would be considered the last possible church marriage.
Thus, the final format of the church ceremony for Ostapchuk will depend on his personal history of marriages in the church.
