Time to prepare Kyiv for defense - a military observer

As long as the war continues, Kyiv cannot consider itself fully protected, even in the absence of a direct threat of attack. This opinion was expressed by military commentator Denys Popovych on the air of "Raido NV", commenting on the statement of ATO veteran and military equipment manufacturer Martin Brest. According to experts, preparing the capital for a possible defense should become a priority task, even though there are no direct threats to Kyiv now.

"The capital must be prepared for defense unequivocally," Popovych emphasized, explaining that even in the absence of a current threat of an attack on Kyiv, the city must have a ready defense infrastructure. In his opinion, such measures increase the protection of the city and guarantee readiness in case of unforeseen circumstances.

According to Martin Brest, powerful fortifications will not only strengthen the security of Kyiv, but also increase the confidence of its residents. "When people see strong defense structures, it will be easier and calmer for them," Brest emphasized, adding that it is time to seriously approach fortification works. His opinion is based on the conviction that Kyiv, like the frontline cities, should be ready for any scenarios.

Popovych also noted that Zaporizhzhya and Dnipropetrovsk regions need special attention now, especially considering their proximity to the front line. "Pokrovsk is located very close to the Dnipropetrovsk region, and in the Zaporizhia region itself, assault operations are already underway," he said. According to the military expert, fortification should be a priority in these regions, because it will provide increased security for the frontline areas.

"You can often hear from the military that they are coming to the fortifications, but they are not ready or only partially completed," Popovych said. Such deficiencies create serious risks for personnel. Therefore, the early implementation of fortification works in threatened areas will help to avoid shortcomings in preparation and provide the necessary level of protection.

Providing reliable fortifications in Kyiv, Zaporizhia and Dnipropetrovsk region is not only a tactical step, but also an important element of national security. As experts emphasize, readiness for the defense of the capital should become an absolute priority, as it will give citizens confidence in stability and security even in difficult times.

The deepening of fortification efforts can become the basis for the development of a modern defense strategy that will be able to adequately respond to any threats, regardless of their nature and time of occurrence.
