Military analyst and vice-marshal of the British Air Force Sean Bell believes that Iranian missiles will allow Russia to increase the intensity of attacks throughout Ukraine. In addition, Moscow will be able to focus its limited stockpile of long-range Iskander missiles on domestic targets.
Russian cruise missiles were very effective at striking deep into the rear of Ukraine at the beginning of the war, but the introduction of advanced Western air defense systems such as Patriot in Kiev limited their effectiveness.
However, ballistic missiles are a more difficult target for air defense systems, primarily due to their hypersonic speed. These missiles can only be intercepted by expensive, high-quality Western anti-aircraft missiles, which have a limited supply.
Even more worrisome is the fact that Tehran is receiving technology and expert support from Moscow for Iran's nuclear weapons program — all while circumventing Western sanctions.
