The commander of the 57th motorized rifle brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Oleksandr Bakulin, compared the current situation of Ukraine with the historical experience of Finland, which, although it lost part of its territories after the war with the USSR, preserved its independence and territorial integrity. He expressed his thoughts in an interview for ABC News.
"Little Finland once fought against the great USSR. Yes, she lost some territories. But it still exists as a country, and Russia does not even look in that direction. We're in a similar situation, but I hope we don't lose our land," he told ABC News.
The newspaper quotes the colonel as saying that "in the end, this war will end with an agreement." "And he seems to have even agreed that for this he may have to give up territory, referring to the experience of neighboring Finland," the American TV channel concludes.
At the same time, Bakulin declared that "we have already won this war. The question is at what point will it end and at what stage."
