In Volyn, customs officers stopped an attempt to import almost 100 kilograms of Russian products — red caviar and crab meat — into Ukraine. The prohibited goods were found in the minibus of a Ukrainian returning home from Europe through the Ustyluh checkpoint.
During the inspection of the vehicle, Volyn customs officers found containers and glass jars with seafood in the passenger compartment, marked "RF, Kamchatka Krai." The total value of the products is estimated at approximately 170 thousand hryvnias.
The caviar and crab meat were not hidden, but their origin violated established norms. According to the government's decision, the import of goods of Russian origin has been prohibited since 2015, and a full trade embargo with the aggressor state has been in effect since April 2022.
All products were seized and transferred to a customs warehouse. A report was drawn up against the violator under Part 3 of Article 471 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. The article provides for a fine and possible confiscation of the goods.
The final decision in the case will be made by the court.
