Nikon Sicilian lived in the third century. He was born in Naples, his father was a Gentile, his mother was a Christian, and Nikon was also a pagan. He grew up and became a brave and strong warrior.
One day his detachment was surrounded - the danger was deadly. At that moment, Nikon remembered how his mother taught him to pray - he spoke prayer, crossed himself and made a promise that he would be baptized if he could avoid death. The detachment managed to save and Nikon went to Mount Ganos on the Marble Sea coast - he found a priest there, baptized and accepted monasticism.
Nikon soon became an example for the entire fraternity and was dedicated to the bishop's dignity. The former abbot of the monastery, before his death, advised the monks to move to Sicily, so as not to get under the invasion of barbarians. Nikon and another 190 monks arrived in Naples, there were 9 more associates. Nikon founded the monastery, and for many years the monks lived together. But when new persecution began to be persecuted, all the monks were executed.
Nikon Kiev-Pecherski lived in the XI century and was a follower of the founder of the monastery-Reverend Anthony. All the newcomers in the monastery Nikon Pechersky trimmed in the monk, and somehow the vows of the court pets of Prince Izyaslav. The prince, having learned about it, was very angry with Nikon, and so that he was forced to leave the monastery and settle on the Tmutarakan Peninsula.
