An incident occurred on Poshtova Square in Kyiv with a teenager who decided to explore an abandoned building with his friends. The incident occurred on the evening of March 21, as reported by the Kyiv Department of the State Emergency Service.
According to preliminary information, the young man and his company were looking for adventure in an abandoned building, but while moving through the area, he fell into a pit from a height of about five meters. His friends witnessed the fall and immediately called 101 for help.
Rescuers, medics, and law enforcement officers quickly arrived at the scene. While the area was being searched, the boy managed to get to the surface on his own. After that, they had a preventive conversation with him about the dangers of staying in abandoned buildings.
As it turned out later, the place of the incident has historical value. It is a territory of a monument of archeology and history of national importance, where in 2015 archaeologists discovered the remains of a street from the times of Kyivan Rus' of the 11th–12th centuries. According to rescuers, the teenager himself learned about this after the incident.
Rescuers once again urge citizens, especially young people, to refrain from visiting dangerous and abandoned facilities, as this can lead to injuries or more serious consequences.
