Denmark continues to support Ukraine in its struggle by financing the production and supply of artillery systems. Danish Defense Minister Trolls Lund Poulsen announced the transfer of 18 "Bohdan" artillery units to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These installations became part of the agreement concluded after Poulsen's visit to Ukraine in March 2024, when the main request was to increase the production of weapons.
Denmark's priorities
According to Poulsen, Denmark placed an order for the production of 18 Bogdan systems in July, and they were already handed over to Ukraine this weekend. The head of the defense department emphasized that the production of weapons in Ukraine is much cheaper than the production or purchase of weapons in the West. Therefore, Denmark calls on other European countries to also invest in Ukrainian defense production.
Support of Ukrainian production
Oleksandr Kamyshin, former Minister of Strategic Industry of Ukraine, confirmed that Ukrainian defense enterprises have the ability to produce more weapons. However, this requires adequate funding. This support from Denmark and the need for additional investments are important to ensure increased production and improvement of Ukraine's defense capabilities.
What is "Bohdana" ACS?
The Bogdana self-propelled gun is a Ukrainian 155 mm self-propelled artillery installation that meets NATO standards. It is equipped with a cannon with a firing range of up to 60 km, develops a speed of up to 80 km/h and has a crew of five people. The production of "Bogdana" began at the Kramatorsk heavy machine tool construction plant in 2015, and in 2023 the installation officially entered service with the Armed Forces.
