Anti-corruption bodies continue to expose unjustified wealth of officials. This time, an employee of the Main Department of the State Tax Service in Ivano-Frankivsk region became the object of attention of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NACP).
The investigation, which began in early 2024, revealed serious violations in the declaration of property. In particular, a member of the official's family used a luxury car of a German brand worth more than 2.7 million hryvnias.
The vehicle was officially registered to third parties. However, the collected materials indicate that the official's family is the actual owner.
The SBI established that the incomes of the family of the official and the nominal owner of the car do not correspond to the possibilities of purchasing such an expensive property.
Based on the materials of the SBI, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) appealed to the High Anti-Corruption Court (HCC) with a claim to declare the assets unsubstantiated. The court can order confiscation of the car in favor of the state.
This case is the result of cooperation between the SBI and NAKC in the fight against undeclared assets. The head of NAZK said that similar cases will serve as a lesson for officials who try to hide their wealth with the help of schemes with third parties.
VAKS will consider the claim in the near future. In case of a positive decision, the car worth almost 3 million hryvnias will be confiscated as state revenue.
