The State Bureau of Investigation has reported the commander of an artillery battery in one of the military units in Kyiv and his deputy to suspicion. According to the investigation, their actions resulted in losses for the state of almost 900,000 hryvnias.
As investigators established, the deputy commander prepared three false reports, in which he stated that he and 19 other servicemen were performing combat missions in the Chernihiv region in August-September 2024. In reality, the group was located elsewhere and did not perform the specified tasks.
The artillery battery commander did not check the accuracy of the information and signed the reports. Based on these documents, the deputy and 19 other servicemen received additional payments totaling about 900 thousand hryvnias.
The commander was charged under Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — negligence in service, which caused grave consequences in conditions of martial law. The sanction provides for up to eight years of imprisonment.
His deputy is charged with Part 4 of Article 426 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - intentional failure to perform official duties by a military official under martial law, which entails up to ten years in prison.
According to the State Bureau of Investigation, thanks to the investigation, the state has already been reimbursed over 600 thousand hryvnias.
