The State Border Service of Ukraine has started an investigation in connection with the possible illegal crossing of the border by People's Deputy Artem Dmytruk. This was announced by the spokesman of the State Border Service Andriy Demchenko on the air of the telethon.
According to Demchenko, yesterday the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) announced the initiation of a criminal case in connection with this incident. Dmytrouk is suspected of illegally crossing the border. The spokesman noted that the border guards are checking the circumstances of this situation and are working to establish all the details.
"Border guards conduct the necessary inspection. Currently, a relevant group is working directly at the border," Demchenko emphasized. He also clarified that information about third parties who may have been involved in crossing the border is currently not disclosed in accordance with current legislation.
The State Bureau of Investigation initiated criminal proceedings on the fact of illegal crossing of the border by a people's deputy, who was also suspected of attacks on citizens. In Odesa, an investigative and operative group of the SBI, which includes employees of the Bureau's Central Office, is already working.
"Urgent investigative actions are underway to find out the circumstances of the border crossing, as well as to identify persons who could help the deputy in this process," the SBI noted. As part of the investigation, searches have already taken place at the hands of civilians and employees of the border service, who probably could have contributed to the illegal crossing of the border.
The proceedings were instituted under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for responsibility for facilitating the illegal transportation of persons across the state border.
