Russian aggression dealt a devastating blow to Ukraine's energy infrastructure. DTEK Energo, one of the key players in the industry, suffered massive losses but continues to fight to restore capacity. The general director of the company, Ildar Saleev, disclosed the details of the situation and plans for the future.
According to Saleev, the thermal power plants of DTEK Energo suffered more than 180 attacks by Russian troops, which resulted in the loss of 90% of the company's capacity. Preliminary damage estimates reach $350 million.
Despite the enormous destruction, DTEK Energo continues restoration work. Power engineers work around the clock, trying to restore damaged equipment to working order as soon as possible. However, the scale of the destruction is such that it will take years for full recovery.
The company is actively looking for spare parts and equipment around the world, placing orders for the production of the necessary equipment at factories on all continents. DTEK Energo specialists are constantly looking for equipment that can be purchased, delivered and installed in the shortest possible time.
In 2024, DTEK Energo plans to spend 4 billion hryvnias (about $100 million) of its own funds to repair thermal power plants. These funds are aimed exclusively at the restoration of lost capacities.
Despite all the difficulties, DTEK Energo does not consider any of its facilities to be "irrecoverable". The company is confident that all power plants will be restored, just as Ukraine will win the war. This confidence is the driving force for energy workers who fight every day for every kilowatt of electricity for the country.
