On Sunday, August 3, a fatal road accident occurred in Dubno, Rivne region, killing a two-year-old child and injuring several other people. The regional prosecutor's office reported this.
According to preliminary information, a 67-year-old resident of Rivne, driving a Renault Megane Scenic, did not take into account the road conditions, exceeded the safe speed and lost control of the vehicle on a turn. The car drove into the oncoming lane, where a head-on collision with a Ford Fiesta occurred.
The accident seriously injured a two-year-old passenger in the Ford Fiesta, the driver's son. Despite the efforts of doctors, the boy died in hospital the same day. Another child, the driver's eldest son, his wife and the suspect's wife, were also injured.
The court chose a preventive measure for the 67-year-old driver in the form of night house arrest. A number of examinations have been ordered to establish all the circumstances.
