DTEK CEO Maksym Timchenko, in an interview with the BBC, emphasized the efforts of major market players in close coordination with the Ministry of Energy to prepare Ukraine's energy system for winter in a difficult war situation. He emphasized the important role of Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko, who has been at the helm of the agency for more than three years, including during a full-scale war.
"We have a plan, and we are consistently following it. The Minister is demonstrating true leadership and providing support to all market participants: nuclear, thermal, and hydropower generation, to ensure a sufficient amount of our own capacity," Timchenko noted.
He called for a constructive approach and cooperation, emphasizing that this is critical to overcoming future challenges.
“Now is not the time for criticism. We can all be criticized, but we need leadership. We have been through two winters, and now we need to focus on long-term solutions,” he added.
Timchenko also emphasized the importance of continuing reforms and integrating Ukraine's energy system into the European one.
It is worth noting that since the beginning of the full-scale war, DTEK thermal power plants have been subjected to almost 190 attacks. In the first nine months of 2024, the company invested over UAH 2.3 billion of its own funds in the repairs and restoration of its plants.
