In Zhytomyr region, the director of a private enterprise, which is engaged in the extraction of minerals, was suspected of a large -scale violation of environmental legislation. This was reported by the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The investigation found that the company received a special permission from the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine for the production of sand in the Karpilovsky field. Within this permission, an agreement was concluded between the company (represented by the director) and the State Geocadastre, which clearly defined the coordinates of the site from which the production was allowed.
However, in the period from February 2020 to May 2024, the company systematically violated the terms of the agreement. According to the investigation, 113.5 thousand cubic meters of sand from territories that were not part of the perimeter allowed were illegally extracted.
As a result of these actions, the environment has caused losses in the amount of more than UAH 2.5 billion.
Law enforcement officers have already conducted searches at the deposit, in the offices of the company, at the place of residence of the directors, owners and accountants of the enterprise. The director was informed of the suspicion.
The proceedings were opened under an article on violation of the rules of protection of subsoil, which caused grave consequences. In case of guilt, the official may threaten many years of imprisonment and confiscation of property.
