Ex-general of the Armed Forces Krivonos urged not to consider the F-16 a "miracle weapon"

The ex-general of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ihor Kryvonos, expressed his views on the use of military equipment, particularly F-16 aircraft, in the context of the conflict with Russia. In his statement, he urged not to consider the F-16 a "miracle weapon" and proposed an alternative approach to their takeoff, given the circumstances that military airfields may be under threat of Russian strikes.

He reminds that against any Western supplies, "the Russians quickly found a certain countermeasure."

"The Russians worked efficiently and purposefully in the direction of processing the answers. Inventing tactics to counter these aircraft, active use of new EW complexes - unfortunately, Russia has been the best in the world in the field of EW for a long time. The situation (after the arrival of the F-16 - Ed.) will become much better, but do not think that we will reach Sevastopol by the beginning of September," Krivonos said.

He doubted that Ukraine would be able to maintain a large number of such planes (Zelensky said the day before yesterday that at least 128 of them were needed). According to him, each plane needs at least two pilots, and preferably 3-4.

"Now count, multiply 120 by two, 240 pilots. It is good if it is in English. And this is taking into account the fact that we suffered quite serious losses in pilots during the last two years of the war," says the ex-general. In addition, according to him, "we need aviation engineers and technicians who will service a huge number of these planes."

In his opinion, "all Ukrainian roads, all highways should be prepared according to the system, as it exists, for example, in the same Sweden, where all roads are prepared. Swedish highways are a solid Swedish airfield. And it's quite difficult to find, to get to, because there are waiting areas and landing areas on each section of 50 km."

He called to "make Ukrainian roads like an airfield."
