The Kyiv police reported that the former head of the Kyiv metro has been officially indicted in connection with the case of the flooding of the tunnel of the blue branch of the capital's metro, which happened last year. This high-profile investigation has finally reached the indictment stage, which could have serious consequences for the former chief and other officials involved in the incident.
According to the investigation, the management of the enterprise hid the facts of the critical condition of this section of the subway for several years and did not carry out repairs.
As a result of the corrosion of the fittings and the gradual destruction of the elements, cracks formed in the frame of the main structure. Groundwater entered these cracks, the integrity of the tunnel's waterproofing was broken, and the subway tracks in the "Demiivska" district began to flood.
Presumably, the ex-head of the metro, Viktor Braginskyi, who resigned in the summer after a journalistic investigation into his possible corruption, was suspected of official negligence and resigned as a deputy of the Kyiv City Council.
Earlier, suspicions in the case of subway flooding were received by the head of the service of roads, tunnel constructions and the chief engineer of KP.
