VAKS released the exposé of the Ministry of Defense Oleksandr Liev, suspected of involvement in fraud during the procurement of ammunition for the Armed Forces in the amount of almost one and a half billion hryvnias, on personal bond. This was reported by lawyer Nazar Kulchytskyi in a comment to Suspilno.
"The court changed the preventive measure for Oleksandr Liev - detention pending release. The court released him on personal recognizance and sent the decision to the SIZO," said the lawyer.
Judging by the recordings of the broadcast of the meeting, the prosecutor was absent for unknown reasons during the hearing of the case.
The case against Liev was returned to the National Police. NABU and SAP did not find sufficient evidence of suspicion of embezzlement, said judge Yaroslav Shkodin during the meeting.
"If the SAP does not see the nature of the crime, how can the court see it," commented the judge.
Liev, an expositor of the Ministry of Defense, suspected in the case of the embezzlement of almost 1.5 billion hryvnias for the purchase of ammunition for the Armed Forces, remained without a preventive measure.
This was reported by his lawyer Kulchytskyi.
Liev was taken into custody with a bail of 50 million hryvnias on February 12, and a month later he was released on personal recognizance. On April 9, VAKS overturned this decision, but Liev did not return to the pretrial detention center, as the term of detention ended on April 8.
This means that he remained without preventive measures, the lawyer explains.
On April 17, VAKS re-examined the request to change the preventive measure, but with the consent of the prosecution, left the request without consideration.
