The Ukrainian military continues to successfully resist the occupiers in the east of the country, using advanced technologies and military tactics. The spokesman of the department, Dmytro Lazutkin, said that the presence of FPV drones (first person) and artillery allows Ukrainian defenders to work effectively against the occupiers, in particular, in difficult combat conditions when the enemy is bringing up infantry.
Infantry groups of the Russian Armed Forces entered Vovchansk, Kharkiv region. Now the invaders are trying to gain a foothold in the north of the city, fighting continues. This was announced by the press secretary of the Ministry of Defense Dmytro Lazutkin during the telethon.
"If we are talking about the situation in Vovchansk, then the enemy is trying to gain a foothold in the northern part of the city, trying to enter in small infantry groups. The task before us is to destroy the enemy, prevent him from gaining more strength and gaining a foothold," the spokesman said.
Lazutkin added that the Ukrainian military, thanks to FPV drones and artillery, is effectively countering the offensive of the occupiers. Including when the enemy transports infantry with vehicles.
"The reserves have already been increased. In fact, such effective combat units are now near Vovchansk and are holding this direction. But yes, some infantry groups did enter the city," he added.
At the same time, the spokesman of the Ministry of Defense added that today the head of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi reported on the situation to President Volodymyr Zelenskyi. Syrskyi is in the combat brigades, the head of the direction is currently Brigadier General Mykhailo Drapaty. Dmytro Lazutkin admitted that the situation in Vovchansk remains difficult, tension persists. Despite the current trend towards stabilization, heavy fighting continues.
"The enemy wants to stretch the front, tie up our forces somewhere. Indeed, our task is to destroy the occupier. And this is done in large quantities. The occupiers are dying on the approaches to Vovchansk, its surroundings, and in the city itself," concluded Lazutkin.
On May 15, it became known that, according to Oleksiy Kharkivskyi, a patrol officer of the Vovchan police department, the population is being evacuated due to intense hostilities in the city.
Also, on May 13, Kharkiv Regional Council deputy Oleksandr Skoryk said that the Russian occupation army began to surround Vovchansk from one side. Enemy shelling actually destroyed the city.
