The territorial department of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) in the city of Kyiv registered three new criminal proceedings against serviceman Vitaly Shabunin. According to official information, serious charges have been brought against him, including the use of a forged military ID card, evasion of military service with the help of NAZK officials, and illegal appointment to the post of combat medic.
According to data published by serviceman Volodymyr Boyk in his Facebook posts, Shabunin did not take a military oath and used a known forged military ticket. Moreover, from February 25, 2022 to November 2, 2023, he fictitiously served in the 207th separate battalion of territorial defense, where he allegedly held the positions of gunner, electric driver and scout, although he did not actually appear in the unit and lived in Kyiv. All the money he received went to his bank card, including funds for military operations, in which, according to Boyko, he did not participate.
One of the proceedings is also the question of the help that Shabunin received from the head of the NAZK Oleksandr Novikov and his deputy Artem Sytnyk to evade military service in the period from September 2022 to March 2023. The second proceeding concerns the illegal transfer of Shabunin to the position of combat medic in the 101st separate security brigade of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with the rank of "junior sergeant" assigned to him. However, according to Boyk, Shabunin was not properly trained and had no right to hold such a position.
It is worth noting that these criminal proceedings were opened on November 5, 2023, the day of the US presidential election, which causes additional interest in the possible political aspects of this investigation.
