In Ukraine, the implementation of the new 5G communication technology is starting, in particular in three cities. Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced this on his Telegram channel, noting that the government has adopted changes to the resolution on the use of radio frequencies.
"We are launching a pilot 5G in Ukraine. Three cities are testing the compatibility of 5G with military equipment. The pilot will last two years and will take place in two phases. During the tests, NKEK and the Ukrainian State Radio Frequency Center will check whether 5G equipment does not affect the operation of military networks," Fedorov said.
He emphasized that 5G technology is capable of transferring data 10 times faster than 4G, opening up new opportunities for exchanging large amounts of information at ultra-high speeds. This is an important step towards the full launch of 5G in Ukraine, which is planned to be completed by 2030.
Changes to the regulation will also allow operators to use the 2100 MHz frequencies not only for 3G, but also for 2G and 4G technologies. In addition, the termination of the use of the 694-862 MHz frequencies for analog and digital television will free up these frequencies for mobile communication, which will facilitate the expansion of the 5G network.
