The State Bureau of Investigation reported the suspicion to a medical service colonel and a serviceman who organized a bogus combat pay scheme for a woman who was actually at home. This is stated in the official press service of the SBI.
The investigation established that in June 2022, a colonel of the medical service of one of the military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine went to the east of Ukraine to perform combat missions. At the same time, his wife, who was not a soldier, stayed at home with the child. In July 2023, the colonel, having agreed with the commander of the medical company, officially "employed" his wife in the unit.
The woman never appeared at the place of deployment of the unit, but on the basis of fictitious documents, she received combat pay every month. For eight months of so-called "service", she received almost 1 million hryvnias.
The soldier, his wife and the commander of the medical company are charged with embezzlement of state funds in large amounts under martial law (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The commander of the medical company is additionally suspected of drawing up false official documents (Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction for these offenses provides for up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
