The 697th day of the large-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against our state continues. The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.
During the day, 59 combat clashes took place. The enemy launched 4 missile and 69 air strikes, and carried out 50 attacks from multiple rocket launcher systems on the positions of our troops and settlements. This was stated in the evening summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on January 21.
Situation in operational areas
in the Volyn and Polissya directions is without significant changes. No signs of the formation of offensive groups have been detected. The designated units of the Belarusian armed forces are carrying out tasks in the border areas with Ukraine.
In the Siversky and Slobozhansky directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, carries out shelling of settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of mine and explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine. The enemy carried out air strikes in the areas of the settlements of Grafske, Vovchansk, Mykolaivka in the Kharkiv region. About 25 settlements were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling, including Klyusy in the Chernihiv region; Marchikhina Buda, Fotovyzh, Atynske, Pavlivka, Kostyantynivka, Sadky in the Sumy region; Udy, Kozacha Lopan, Ogirtsevo, Vovchansk, Budarky, Kolodyazne in the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupyansk direction, our defenders repelled 7 attacks near Synkivka, Kharkiv region, where the enemy tried to break through the defense of our troops. The enemy launched air strikes in the areas of the settlements of Ivanivka, Kyslivka, Tabaivka, and Pishchane, Kharkiv region . Over 15 settlements were under artillery and mortar fire, in particular, Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Berestovo, Kharkiv region.
In the Lyman direction, our defenders repelled 4 attacks in the Terni and Yampolivka areas of Donetsk region and 6 more attacks near Bilogorivka in Luhansk region, where the enemy tried to break through the defenses of our troops. The enemy launched air strikes in the area of Serebryansk forestry in Luhansk region and near the settlements of Yampolivka and Hryhorivka in Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements were affected by enemy artillery and mortar attacks, including Karmazynivka, Nevske, Bilogorivka in Luhansk region and Torske, Dibrova, Serebryanka, Verkhnokamyanske, Spirne, Rozdolivka in Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, the Defense Forces repelled 5 attacks near Bogdanivka, Ivanovske and Klischiivka in Donetsk region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to improve the tactical position. The enemy carried out air strikes in the areas of the settlements of Minkivka, Bogdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Kostyantynivka, Toretsk, New York in Donetsk region. About 10 settlements were under artillery and mortar fire, in particular, Vasyukivka, Bogdanivka, Ivanovske, Klischiivka, Andriivka, New York in Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 5 attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Stepovoye, Avdiivka and 9 more attacks south of Severnye, Pervomayske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to break through the defenses of our troops. The enemy launched air strikes in the areas of the settlements of Lastochkino, Avdiivka in the Donetsk region. About 10 settlements were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling, including Novobakhmutivka, Berdychi, Avdiivka, Pervomayske in the Donetsk region.
In the Maryinsky direction, the Defense Forces continue to restrain the enemy in the areas of Georgievka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region, where the occupiers unsuccessfully tried to improve the tactical position 3 times. The enemy launched air strikes in the areas of the settlements of Staromayorske, Rivnopil, Donetsk region. Maksymilyanivka, Georgievka, Pobeda, Novomykhailivka were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.
in the Shakhtar direction . It carried out air strikes in the areas of the settlements of Novomykhailivka and Kostyantynivka in the Donetsk region. Bogoyavlenka, Staromayorske, and Zelene Pole were under artillery and mortar fire from the invaders.
In the Zaporizhia direction, our defenders repelled 4 attacks west of Verbovye and Robotyne in the Zaporizhia region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to regain lost positions. Over 15 settlements were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling, including Levadne, Hulyaipole, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandreyevka, and Lobkove in the Zaporizhia region.
In the area of responsibility of the Odessa Military District in the Kherson direction, the regional center of the Kherson region and the areas of the settlements of Beryslav and Novotyaginka in the Kherson region were subjected to enemy
The enemy does not give up on the intention to knock our units out of the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnieper. Thus, the enemy carried out 6 unsuccessful assaults on the positions of our troops.
