The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, together with the SAPO and the Strategic Investigations Department in Volyn region, have exposed the head of one of the region's district courts and his acquaintance in an attempt to obtain illegal benefits. This was reported by NABU.
According to the investigation, the official and an acquaintance incited a local resident to bribe another judge for an allegedly "necessary" decision in a civil case. In reality, there was no agreement with that judge, and the decision he made was already in favor of the applicant.
The suspects appropriated the funds they received, dividing them among themselves. They tried to hide part of the amount by exchanging currency through an exchange office and another acquaintance.
The actions of the suspects are classified under the following articles:
-
Part 4 of Article 27 (incitement to commit a crime),
-
Part 2 of Art. 15 (attempted crime),
-
Part 3 of Article 369 (providing an unlawful benefit to an official),
-
Part 3 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (fraud committed by prior conspiracy, using official position).
The investigation is ongoing.
