Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi told the details of the incident with the first F-16

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Syrskyi shared new details of the incident with the first F-16 aircraft that crashed in Ukraine. In an interview with CNN, he spoke about the circumstances of the tragedy that occurred in the country's airspace.

Syrsky reported that the F-16 pilot was on a combat mission and used the on-board weapons to destroy the cruise missiles. He specified that at the moment there are no final data on the circumstances of the plane crash and that the investigation of the incident is ongoing. Golovkom did not comment on the possible version that the plane could have been shot down by its own forces.

According to Sirsky, a pair of F-16s had already managed to destroy four cruise missiles. He noted that these aircraft are used as interceptors and fighters, which corresponds to their purpose. F-16s are equipped with appropriate equipment and weapons that allow them to effectively fight enemy cruise missiles, as well as enemy aircraft if they cross the front line.

It will be recalled that earlier People's Deputy Iryna Bezugla announced the possible downing of the plane by the Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile system "Patriot". This information has not been officially confirmed. After the incident with the plane crash, Oleshchuk, the commander of the Air Force of Ukraine, was dismissed.
