The court left without satisfaction of the protection party to cancel the arrest on the Saltzbork hotel complex and other real estate in Lviv region, which is associated with the former employee of Lviv customs Andriy Basarab. Objects are in criminal proceedings for possible illegal enrichment of the official.
The investigation, opened on May 15, 2024, concerns the purchase of a number of land and buildings in the Sambir district, which, according to the investigation, significantly exceed the official income of Basarab. Much of the assets are decorated for loved ones, in particular on Eco-Sambir LLC, where his wife Lyubov Basarab is co-owner.
The lawyer stated that the property was acquired by 2021, some of the objects are in the mortgage, and since 2022 the complex has been used as a base for the rehabilitation of children and military. The defense also referred to the owner's business reputation and complications of credit access.
However, the court acknowledged that the arguments provided were not sufficient to arrest. The investigation believes that the property could have been reissued for a legal entity in order to avoid confiscation in the event of a conviction. It was also emphasized that on May 26, 2025, construction and technical examination was assigned to the case, and its results are still expected.
The Court noted that the risks that became the basis for arrest remain valid and the previous decision was confirmed by the Court of Appeal. In addition, according to procedural norms, the current decision is not subject to appeal.
The list of arrested property is a hotel complex in Star Salt, Paprochyn village, 19 land plots, houses from 19.7 to 1227.5 m² and other real estate objects. The investigation is ongoing.
