Today, Orthodox and Greek Catholic Christians commemorate the holy apostles Erastus, Olympos, and Rodion, disciples of the Apostle Paul, who spread Christian teachings in various regions of the Roman Empire.
The Apostle Erastus is mentioned in the Epistles of the Apostle Paul as the treasurer of Corinth, responsible for the financial affairs of the community. He accompanied Paul on missionary journeys, preaching in Achaia and Macedonia, where he completed his earthly journey after many years of service.
Saint Olympos, mentioned in the Epistle to the Romans, was a devoted disciple of the apostles and helped the Christian communities in Rome during the persecutions. According to tradition, he was martyred for his faith during the reign of Emperor Nero.
Rodion, also called Gerasenes, was a close disciple of the Apostle Paul and one of those who spread Christianity among the pagans. His life became an example of courage, steadfastness in faith, and self-sacrifice.
Traditionally, this day is considered peaceful and favorable for maintaining peace in the family. People tried to avoid quarrels, noisy work and fuss, instead paying attention to prayer, cleaning and home comfort.
