Amid the difficult situation in the energy system, Ukrainians are being urged to be more careful about their household electricity consumption. Many people pay attention to large appliances like refrigerators or stoves, but one of the most energy-consuming gadgets often goes unnoticed in the home: the clothes dryer.
A dryer can use as much electricity in one cycle as a refrigerator does in a day. The principle of operation of the appliance involves heating the air to a high temperature even when the clothes are almost dry. Incorrect use of the dryer increases consumption even more: overloading the drum, excessively long programs, a dirty filter or small loads lead to unnecessary costs.
Experts advise several ways to reduce electricity consumption:
- Turn on the maximum spin mode in the washing machine so that the laundry is less damp before drying.
- Put a sufficient amount of things, but do not exceed the permissible weight.
- Use the dryer preferably on humid or rainy days.
- Combine machine drying with natural drying, bringing things to dryness after first air drying.
- As an alternative, you can use a dehumidifier, which consumes much less electricity and maintains optimal humidity.
Following these tips will help reduce your electricity bills, preserve the life of your appliance, and at the same time support efficient use of electricity during the energy crisis.
