New rules have come into effect in Ukraine that allow citizens to actively combat spam calls. Starting October 2, the government granted mobile operators the right to block numbers that make mass advertising calls without the consent of users. This was announced by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.
Spam calls are telephone calls of an advertising nature, when companies impose goods or services without the subscriber's prior permission. Now every Ukrainian can join the fight against this problem by reporting a suspicious number.
To report spam, simply use your mobile operator's app or call a special number:
-
Vodafone — in the application or by calling 111, 0 800 400 111 (in Ukraine) or +38 050 400 111 (in roaming)
-
Kyivstar — in the application or by calling 466, 0 800 300 466 (in Ukraine) or 105 466# (in roaming)
-
LifeCell — in the application or by calling 5433, 0 800 20 5433 (in Ukraine) or +38 063 5433 111 (in roaming)
In addition, you can contact the Government hotline 1545 or leave a complaint on the website of the National Commission for the Regulation of Electronic Communications.
According to the minister, thanks to the new rules, thousands of numbers that made mass calls have already been blocked. This is the first step towards ensuring that Ukrainians can safely use their communications without intrusive advertising and fraudulent offers.
