In Transcarpathia, law enforcement officers have uncovered a scheme for the illegal sale of cars that were imported into Ukraine under the guise of humanitarian aid for the military, the regional police reported.
The organizer turned out to be a 48-year-old resident of the village of Mizhlisne, Beregov district.
According to the investigation, the man arranged for the import of vehicles without paying customs duties and taxes. However, after crossing the border, the vehicles did not reach military units. Instead, they were sold to civilians.
Investigators established that in this way the Transcarpathian illegally imported and sold five cars: Fiat Ducato, Nissan X-Trail, Nissan Terrano, Nissan Navara and Mazda B2500. The total profit from the transactions amounted to about UAH 1.4 million.
The suspect has already been notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - selling humanitarian aid goods for the purpose of making a significant profit. The issue of choosing a preventive measure for him is currently being decided.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
