On Sunday, December 7, a local resident attacked passersby with a knife on Vasyl Stus Street in Ivano-Frankivsk. A 47-year-old woman and an 11-year-old boy were hospitalized as a result of the incident.
According to the Ivano-Frankivsk region police, the incident occurred at around 2:00 p.m. in a residential neighborhood. "The perpetrator, motivated by obvious disrespect for society, grossly violated public order and attacked two random passersby," law enforcement officials said.
The victims were taken to the hospital, the child is still under medical supervision. The attacker, a 41-year-old woman from Frankivsk with no previous convictions, was detained at the scene. She refused to give any testimony.
The woman was charged under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism), which provides for a sentence of three to seven years in prison.
