In Kyiv, police officers detained an attacker who carried out a brazen robbery of a food vendor at a fair in Solomianskyi district in the middle of the day. The incident occurred during trading, when a conflict arose between buyers at the counter. An unknown man took advantage of the moment, sprayed gas from a canister in the vendor's face and tore off his apron, which contained the proceeds - almost 100,000 hryvnias.
The seller, a 53-year-old man, did not have time to react to the attack, as he was blinded by the gas. The attacker quickly fled, leaving a gas canister at the scene. The police immediately conducted a search of the area and seized physical evidence.
Law enforcement officers were able to quickly identify the suspect. He turned out to be a 39-year-old resident of Kyiv, who had been convicted of similar crimes several times. During the search, an apron with part of the stolen funds - about 30 thousand hryvnias - was seized from him. The attacker probably managed to spend or hide the rest of the money.
The man was informed of suspicion of committing robbery with violence. The court chose for him a preventive measure in the form of detention. For such actions, the suspect faces up to ten years in prison.
