The Pechersky District Court of Kyiv sentenced a 20-year-old man who threatened law enforcement officers with a weapon and injured one of them in the subway in January 2025. According to the court's decision, the perpetrator will spend four and a half years behind bars.
The incident occurred at the Khreschatyk station. A young man, a native of the Kirovohrad region, while intoxicated, was clinging to passengers and swearing obscenely. He did not react to the police officers' remarks, but instead took out a traumatic pistol and began threatening to use it.
Metro passengers and law enforcement officers helped detain the aggressive young man. During the resistance, he hit a police officer and caused bodily harm.
It turned out that the man already had a criminal record for illegal possession of a vehicle and was released on parole.
The investigation charged him with Part 2 of Article 345 (threat or violence against a law enforcement officer) and Part 4 of Article 296 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He was in custody throughout the investigation. The Pechersk District Court found him guilty and sentenced him to four and a half years in prison.
