In the Odessa region, law enforcement officers reported suspicions to a 46-year-old Odessa resident who, under the guise of legal assistance, defrauded servicemen. According to the regional prosecutor's office, the man, working at a law firm, built a scheme by which he convinced soldiers to conclude contracts for the execution of documents to receive vacation and sick pay.
In fact, according to the investigation, no "services" were provided. Having gained trust, the suspect sent bank card details in messengers, after which the victims transferred funds allegedly for support in the registration process. According to the investigation, the man spent the money on his own needs.
At least eight military victims have been identified; the estimated amount of damage is about 138 thousand hryvnias. Law enforcement officers are identifying other possible victims of the scheme.
The investigation is ongoing; the final legal qualification and measure of restraint will be determined by the court.
